Foodie Festival Heaven
Ask any Glasgow resident and they’ll tell you we’ve got a rich and diverse restaurant culture going on . With a new eatery springing up almost weekly, and the city having taken home the Best City for Vegans award in the UK more than once, our fair city indulges any taste and dining preference. In recent times we’ve seen street food bursting on to the Glasgow scene, so we’ve rounded up the best events that’ll give you a flavour of world-class cuisine al fresco throughout the Summer months, and indeed all year round.
Eat & Drink Festival
The newest big event on the national exhibition circuit has arrived in Glasgow. Run by the planners of the Ideal Home Show, they really know how to draw in the celebrity city chefs and experts who run master classes and demos Get advice from the top drinks experts to advise you on food pairings and refresh your culinary skills. We all love a free taster and there’s plenty of unique Artisan producers from across the country waiting to give you a little try before you buy. Top up your fridge or stock up on gifts for your friends with a huge array of exhibitors selling everything from seasoning and fine meats to craft beer, whisky and cakes.
Milngavie Gin Festival
Gin has made a massive revival in Britain, and festivals celebrating this popular tipple have been popping up quicker than you can say “ice and a slice”. July 21st is the day for Milngavie’s gin festival with some of the finest vendors of the stuff setting up shop including Hendricks, Harris, Eden Mill, Botanist as well as a particular spotlight on some great Scottish gins.
(A wee hint for our out of town guests: Milngavie is pronounced “mill-guy”!)
Big Feed is Scotland’s largest indoor, fully licensed street food market and has become really popular with local Glasgow foodies since its inception. Govan is the latest area of Glasgow to experience regeneration and Big Feed helps to draw folk in from afar, enticing them by way of a mobile Prosecco bar, Fizzbuzz, food innovators Chompsky, and traditional fare from Haggisman. Word has it, the opening event saw queues right out the door so get there early on June 23rd for the best pick of the grub!
Ross Street Market
Markets have begun to breathe new life into the famous Barras market by attracting local producers of crafts, interior wares, jewellery and, of course, food. You’ll find delicious handmade cakes, artisan coffee roasters, Babu Bombay Street Kitchen and Heavenly Patisserie vendors to name but a few. Head down on the first Saturday of every month.

Glasgow Coffee Festival
Impressive venue the Briggait are hosting another round of the Glasgow Coffee Festival May 6th – 7th and it’s one not to be missed! Take in the Scottish heat of the UK Barista Championship and visit the 36 stands selling beans, coffee-making equipment and the odd sweet treat to enjoy on the side. ??
