In Glasgow’s East end is the magnificent sports complex The Emirates Arena. Less than 15 minutes from The City Apartments and directly facing Celtic Park, the arena itself is an impressive feat of architecture. However, even more impressive is the events and the facilities the arena hosts!

Created for world class athletes and the people of Glasgow, The Emirates Arena is designed to inspire and motivate the next generation of elite Scottish athletes.

As one of the largest, most flexible and innovative facilities of its kind in Europe, The Arena comprises of an indoor athletics arena (capacity 5,000) , Velodrome (capacity 2,000) sports halls (capacity 1650), dance and fitness studios, one of the largest Glasgow Club gyms and a luxurious health spa.

Scottish basketball teams The Glasgow Rocks (mens) and The Glasgow Wildcats (women’s) also call The Emirates Arena home with the auditorium able to hold a capacity of 8,200 people . The Basketball is a great day out for all the family and only £15 per adult and £12 per concession. Family group tickets are available also. The Emirates Arena is not just host to Britain’s premier basketball league but to lots of their sports as well, inckuding; Snooker, athletics, curling, netball, tennis, dodgeball World championships and of course cycling in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

The Velodrome inside the Emirates Arena is named after olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy. The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome isn’t just for elite athletes, anyone can take the opportunity to enjoy cycling and ride the track. If you are a first-time rider there is plenty of help available to get started the right way!

As previously mentioned, the arena is one of 22 gyms part of “Glasgow Club” which means a membership can be used in any one of the club gyms and not just the Emirates arena.
The world-class facilities at Emirates Arena are second to none. This purpose-built main venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games houses one of the largest gyms in Glasgow. Work out overlooking the Velodrome, book classes in the custom-built fitness studios, and be inspired by the amazing events which take place here.
