~ TOP LOCAL ATTRACTIONS ~

The West End boasts two fantastic public parks which are also of historic interest. The Botanic Gardens features immaculate grounds and houses a splendid array of tropical plants and flowers. Kelvingrove Park, on the banks of the River Kelvin is close to Glasgow University, houses the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museums and offers many outdoor pursuits areas including bowling greens, tennis courts and a children’s play area.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum has been impressively restored as a result of a nearly £30 million project in recent years. Visitors can enjoy improved collections, better access, shops and an even larger café.

The West End Festival takes place for a few days in June every year. In 2018 it is celebrating it’s 23rd year and is Glasgow’s largest community cultural event. Local and international artists bring a variety of activities including music, local history events, exhibitions, theatre and dance, guided walks, film screenings and much more. The main base for this festival is Byres Road and Kelvingrove Park.
